DFP Planning & Design serves Minnesota's greater Twin Cities area providing luxury residential home design, drafting, and illustration services for custom builders and individual clients.

In collaboration with Nelson Residential Design Inc. [NRDI], we provide conceptual home designs with a distinctive edge and the necessary drafting and technical services for generating complete construction drawings.

DFP Planning & Design

Donald F. Pertinen of DFP Planning & Design has been designing custom homes since 1967. Over the years, our designs have been used to build over 25,000 homes by major national firms and custom home builders. Currently, we design approximately 300 custom luxury homes annually in the $750,000 to $5,000,000 price range for Minnesota's greater Twin Cities area.

Recognized as one of the top home design firms in the metro area, DFP Planning & Design has designed award winning homes for over 200 Reggie Awards in the annual Parade of Homes competition. We've also designed several homes featured in the Twin Cities Luxury Home Tour every year since it's inception in 2000.

One of our most memorable design projects occurred the summer of 2007, when our firm designed the home for the 100th anniversary special of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" TV show featuring the Swenson-Lee family of Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Nelson Residential Design Inc.  [NRDI]

Ben Nelson of Nelson Residential Design Inc. [NRDI] has been involved in construction and home design for over 25 years. After completing a professional degree in architecture at the University of Minnesota, he initially coordinated construction design and has since focused on custom home design. As an architectural designer with commissions throughout the state and the metro area, he maintains a wide range of home projects from interior remodeling to designing estate-level homes. Ben enjoys the challenge of creating an exciting home design that respects the needs of each client.
